A woman feeling stuck struggling with perfectionism

Absolutely! Here’s the expanded version of your blog post, with a warm, grounded tone that invites reflection and action. A clear CTA is added at the end.

Are You a Perfectionist, Too?
What I learned from taking 10 years to finish my book and card deck.

Let me tell you a story—maybe it’s a little like yours.

Ten years ago, I had this spark of an idea: a card deck and companion book filled with uplifting messages and thoughtful prompts. Something you could pick up in the morning with your coffee, or late at night when the world felt too heavy. Something to help people reconnect with themselves, find a little light, and make space for joy.

I started writing. Designing. Dreaming. I got excited.
And then I got stuck.

Because what if it wasn’t original enough? What if it wasn’t deep enough? What if someone rolled their eyes and said, “This again?” My inner critic—dressed up as “high standards”—got louder than my intuition. So I put it away. And then picked it up again. And then put it away again.

This cycle went on for a decade.

I thought I was being careful. Thoughtful. Intentional. But the truth is, I was afraid. Afraid of judgment. Afraid it wouldn’t be perfect. And perfectionism? It’s tricky. It dresses itself up as discipline, but it’s often just fear with a planner and a Pinterest board.

The Lie of “Almost Ready”

Perfectionism tells you that you’ll share your work once it’s better.
Once you revise it.
Once you finish that course.
Once you feel more confident.

But the finish line keeps moving. I rewrote affirmations that were already meaningful. Redesigned cards that were already beautiful. I told myself I was refining, when really I was resisting.

And the longer I waited, the heavier it felt. Not just the project, but the quiet self-doubt behind it. The belief that maybe I didn’t have anything important enough to say.

But something shifted when I stopped trying to make Inspiration Affirmations perfect, and just focused on making it useful. I remembered who I was making it for: not critics, but real people who, like me, sometimes just need a small reminder that they’re not alone. That clarity, creativity, and calm are possible. That it’s okay to begin again.

Done Is Kind. Shared Is Brave.

When I finally let go of the illusion of perfection, I discovered the real magic: people don’t need perfect. They need honest. They need something real. They need a little light.

So I finished the deck. I finished the book. And I shared them—not because they were flawless, but because they were mine. They were made with heart and care and a deep belief in the quiet power of reflection.

And guess what? The world didn’t end. No one asked for a refund on my humanity. In fact, people wrote back saying, “This is what I needed.” And isn’t that the dream?

If You’re a Perfectionist, Too…

Here’s what I want you to know:

  • You are allowed to make beautiful, meaningful things that aren’t flawless.

  • You are allowed to be both brilliant and learning.

  • And you are definitely allowed to share your work before it’s “done enough.”

Because often, done is enough. And done can change someone’s day. Or life.
